The True Beauty of Nature: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maybe you have zoo in your local and they even have lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeests and other animals for your watch, but we bet they don’t have 1.5 million wildebeests chased by thousands of blood thirsty predators for you to watch. It is one of the most awesome sights of nature and can be only seen at the Maasai Mara National Reserve of Kenya.

Maasai Mara National Park

The Maasai Mara National Park is one of the most visited wildlife park of Kenya established in 1961 to protect different threatened wildlife species of Africa. This park covers a huge area of total 1,510 sq km (583 sq miles) area in the Southwestern part of Kenya, close to the border of Tanzania. The Mara River runs straight through the reserve like a life vein hosting thousands of crocodiles and hippos as it their livelihood. The Maasai Mara is very varied in landscape. Usually most of the land of reserve is made up of hilly grassland, but you also can see woodlands and lush grasslands around the Mara River.

This place is so popular because of its amazing concentration of varieties of wildlife species. As like other reserves of the Africa you are guaranteed to see to the Big-5  (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Cape Buffalo) at here. There are also cheetahs, hyenas, impalas, giraffe, baboons, topis, wildebeest, warthogs, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many other spectacular special available for your watch. You also can see more than 50 species of beautiful bird species such as; golden eagles, storks, ostriches and vultures at here.

The best time to visit this park is between July to October, when the great wildebeest and zebra migration continues. More than 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras gather up every year at Tanzania's Serengeti Plains and further travel the north of Maasai Mara in search of food and water which also offer plenty of food for lions, crocodiles and other predators. The rainy season continues at here between April to May and September, which is inappropriate to visit here because at that time some of parts of the reserve are unreachable due to mud and heavy tropical rain fall. You can enjoy game safaris, cultural tours, hot-balloon trips and many other adventurous activities in here.
